Congratulations to the 42 Lewis & Clark Young Marines who earned the Young Marine Marksmanship Safety ribbon. Their ribbons were awarded at drill on 10/7/2017.
This ribbon is awarded to Young Marines who successfully complete the course of instruction outlined in Marksmanship Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Part I and instructed by a current qualified NRA marksmanship instructor.
Young Marines must receive instruction in and successfully meet criteria established by a qualified marksmanship instructor in the following Core Course of Study:
a. Firearms Safety
b. Smart and Safe Handing of Firearms
c. Rifle parts and components
d. Home Firearm Safety
- Passing a safety course for Bow and Arrow will also meet the requirements for this ribbon. Course must be given by a qualified Bow and Arrow instructor, Hunter’s Safety Course Instructor, etc.
- The course of instruction taken must include the actual handling of the bow/ firearm in a practical shooting experience at a range.
