Thank you for your interest in the Lewis & Clark Young Marines program. To become a Young Marine, all members must complete recruit training where they will learn what it means to be a Young Marine and uphold the core values of leadership, discipline, and teamwork.
The Young Marine Experience
Our unit acknowledges the importance of performing community service. Young Marines not only learn the value of giving back to their community, they develop a sense of pride and respect in their communities. The Lewis & Clark Young Marines Unit serves the Vancouver and Portland areas. To view the different types of community service the unit participates in and what this means for a Young Marine, visit the Lewis & Clark Community Service page.

- Young Marines is open to all boys and girls age 8 through 18 or completion of high school, whichever comes last.
- At least one parent/legal guardian and registered youth(s) are required to attend 3 orientations.
Recruitment
All potential recruits must attend orientation along with their parent/legal guardian. There are a total of three orientations that you and your potential recruit must attend to apply for a spot in our 2025 Recruit Class which will begin in January 2025.
Because our program has expectations of parents, children and our staff, we have found it impossible to communicate this effectively in one orientation.
