LCYM Annual Haunted Corn Maze

It’s that time of year when our older Lewis & Clark Young Marines kick off their cammies, pull on their muck boots and head to The Haunted Corn Maze at Bella Organic Farm on Sauvie Island to “get their scare on”!

LCYM Announces New Executive Officer (XO)

Mr. Sean Langley, LCYM Executive Officer

Lewis & Clark Young Marines would like to congratulate our new Executive Officer (XO) Mr. Sean Langley. Mr. Langley was voted in by the Registered Adult volunteers at a special election on October 12th. Mr. Langley replaces Mr. Lewis who assumed the Unit Commander (UC) position when our former UC resigned. Mr. Langley will serve as XO until February when regular elections for UC and XO will occur. Mr. Langley has been with the unit since 2010 and has served as Charlie Platoon Male Adult Platoon Leader (APL) and currently serves as our Recruiter. Mr. Langley has 3 Young Marines in Lewis & Clark Young Marines.

LCYM Collects Proclamations For Red Ribbon Week 2017

NATIONAL RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN™

The National Family Partnership organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Campaign™. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America.

Enrique (Kiki) Camarena was a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent who was tortured and killed in Mexico in 1985. When he decided to join the US Drug Enforcement Administration, his mother tried to talk him out of it. “I’m only one person”, he told her, “but I want to make a difference.” [Read more…]

Mr. Devin Lewis is our new Unit Commander

Lewis & Clark Young Marines is pleased to announce that Mr. Devin M. Lewis has been named our new Unit Commander effective Sept 24, 2017. Mr. Lewis replaces Mrs. Twilla Miller. We would like to thank Mrs. Miller for her years of dedicated service to the Lewis & Clark Young Marines and wish her well.

Mr. Lewis comes to us with a vast amount of Young Marine experience. He graduated from Young Marine recruit class in 2003 when he was 11. He attended Young Marine National Junior, Senior & Advanced Leadership schools and was the Unit 1st Sergeant from 2009-2010. Mr. Lewis earned the title of Lewis & Clark Young Marine of the Year in 2009 and retired from the Young Marines as a Gunnery Sergeant in 2010.
