Lewis & Clark Young Marines Explore Historic WWII PT Boats on Swan Island
On a bright Saturday, the Lewis & Clark Young Marines had an unforgettable experience touring the historic PT Boat 658 and LCI 713 on Swan Island, thanks to the dedicated volunteers at the PT 658 organization. These young adventurers learned fascinating facts about the PT Boat 658, the fastest wooden boat of its time and one of the most heavily armed for its size during WWII. PT boats played a critical role in daring missions, often engaging in close combat situations that larger warships couldn’t undertake. Vancouver Rifle and Pistol Club Hosts an Exciting Day for Lewis & Clark Young Marines
This past Saturday, the Lewis & Clark Young Marines had the incredible opportunity to visit the Vancouver Rifle and Pistol Club for a day of hands-on learning and practice. Over the past few study nights, our unit has been diligently covering weapon safety, sight usage, and proper handling techniques.
Thanks to the generous hospitality of the Vancouver Rifle and Pistol Club, our young marines put their newly acquired knowledge to the test. It was an exciting and educational experience, enhancing their confidence and skills in a safe and supportive environment.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Vancouver Rifle and Pistol Club for hosting us and providing such a valuable learning opportunity. Our unit had an absolute blast, and we look forward to future collaborations!
Holidays: Sock Exchange
Thursday night Lewis & Clark Young Marines exchanged study gear for holiday cheer!
We celebrated our 9th annual sock exchange, built edible and ornament snowmen, and finished off the night chugging hot cocoa and showing off our holiday outfits!
Thank you to all of the amazing parent volunteers and staff, we could not have put on this event without your support!
Fun: Fall Festival and Truck or Treat
This past weekend was full of fun for Lewis & Clark Young Marines, we celebrated our annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat event!
The fun kicked off with our XO Mr. Vernier getting a pie to the face from the Young Marine who sold the most pies from our Willamette Valley Pie Company fundraiser! Congratulations to YM/SSGT Gallant!
We then changed over into costumes if we brought them, and played all kinds of fun games, like musical chairs, spooky darts, tic tac toe with pumpkins and so many more!
To finish off the fun we did a trunk or treat and were delighted to see so many fun and creatively decorated trunks!
A huge thank you to all of the staff volunteers, and to all of the parent volunteers that made this event happen, we could not have done it without you all! Have a safe and happy holiday this week!
