In an effort to clarify and simplify the instructions of the Basic Guidebook and the Registered Adult Manual (RAM), we have put together an instructional guide with photos to show proper application of name/service tapes and patches to Young Marine cammies. Please download, print and give these instructions to your tailor. DOWNLOAD HERE.
All tapes and patches are to be sewn with matching color thread using a straight stitch.
Service Tape (Young Marines tape) Contact supply@lcym.org for Service Tapes
Cammie Blouse-An olive drab service tape with black lettering will be laundered first, then sewn centered over the wearer’s LEFT (right as you are looking at it) breast pocket, FLUSH to the pocket seam and FLUSH to the edges of the pocket. Excess is to be folded under and pressed prior to sewing. In the event, the uniform is small and the Service Tape extends past the pocket edges, do the best you can.
Nametape (last name of Young Marine) Contact supply@lcym.org for Name Tapes
Cammie Blouse-An olive drab nametape with black lettering will be laundered first then sewn centered over the wearer’s RIGHT (left as you are looking at it) breast pocket, FLUSH to the pocket seam and FLUSH to the edges of the pocket. Excess is to be folded under and pressed prior to sewing. In the event the uniform is small and the nametape extends past the pocket edges, do the best you can.
Cammie Trousers – An olive drab nametape with black lettering will be laundered first then sewn centered over the wearer’s RIGHT (right as you are looking at it) rear trouser pocket, FLUSH to the pocket seam and FLUSH to the edges of the pocket. Excess is to be folded under and pressed prior to sewing. In the event the uniform is small and the nametape extends past the pocket edges, do the best you can.
Young Marine Patch & Unit Arc Patch Contact supply@lcym.org for patches
The Young Marine shoulder patch is worn on the wearer’s LEFT (right as you are looking at it) sleeve with the Unit designation arc centered above the patch, FLUSH with the bottom of the shoulder seam. The “&” sign in “Lewis & Clark” should be directly below the shoulder seam. The round Young Marines patch should be positioned so that “Young Marines” is directly beneath “Lewis & Clark”.
Cover (hat) Blocking (Optional)
Running a straight stitch seam with matching color thread around the top of the cover from point to point keeps the cover in shape and looking nice. This is strictly optional.
