A Leader Moves Forward: YM/MSgt Rider, C. Retires and Joins the Navy

September 9, 2024 by Andi Schwartz

With a mix of excitement and bittersweet farewells, our unit announces the retirement of YM/MSgt Rider, C. after six years of dedicated service. Throughout his time, he exemplified leadership, mentorship, and the core values of our program. His final weekend with us at the Murray Farm Encampment was a memorable send-off before he embarks on his next journey—joining the Navy. As he leaves for boot camp this week, he leaves behind a powerful message: “There is always something new to learn and always a way to improve yourself and your community.” We wish him great success in his future endeavors—Oorah!

Young Marines Celebrate Independence Day at Hillsboro Rotary 4th of July Parade

July 4, 2024 by Andi Schwartz

The Lewis & Clark Young Marines joined the Hillsboro Rotary 4th of July Parade, supported by the local Elks lodge, and enjoyed meeting the Tualatin Valley Young Marines.

Happy Independence Day! The Lewis & Clark Young Marines proudly marched in the Hillsboro, Oregon Rotary 4th of July Parade this morning. Our heartfelt thanks go to the local Elks lodge for providing us with delicious donuts and refreshing water, which gave us the energy we needed for the event. While waiting for the parade to start, we had the pleasure of meeting and playing games with the Tualatin Valley Young Marines, our neighboring unit. It was a fantastic opportunity to bond and have fun together. Oorah!
