Lewis & Clark Young Marines had a fun filled drill day with some very special guests, starting off with our Assistant Division 6 Commander Ms. Mallicoat at opening formation (more exciting news to be shared on that later this week!) Our former Unit Commander, Mr. Lewis, who has moved to the Grand Canyon Regiment Commander role, spoke to us about his very exciting and dangerous job with Border Patrol. We had a very exhilarating lesson on defense techniques from our former Adult Volunteer Mr. Buttrey. Our last guest was one of the Unit’s long time Adult Volunteers Mr. Kurtz who gave us guidance on how to properly prepare during mock oral board class. Thank you all for taking the time to come and see us today! Oorah!
Drill: Retirement and new recruits
What an absolutely incredible drill Lewis & Clark Young Marines had today!
We extend congratulations to Young Marine Gunnery Sergeant Blok, he retired from our program today, he has been involved with the Young Marines since 2016. We look forward to seeing all of the great things you will accomplish in your future!
Today was also the start of our new recruit 93023 class, welcome recruits!
Event: Seattle trip
Lewis & Clark Young Marines cruised up the I-5 to Seattle this past Saturday for our drill. We toured The Museum of Flight, checked out the Tukwila Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle’s Restaurant, and ended with Domino’s Pizza for dinner. It was a long day, but we had a blast!
Drill: Rifle training
Lewis & Clark Young Marines were right on target at the Vancouver Rifle and Pistol Club. We learned weapon safety and how to properly shoot a rifle in the prone position.
After we finished that up, our adrenaline was pumping, so we played a game of island tag to end our drill, Oorah!
Drill: Flag retiring
Lewis & Clark Young Marines drill schedule included a class on how to properly retire flags this weekend. We were then properly able to retire our National flag with respect and pride.
