Fort Vancouver’s CMAC Ceremony Celebrates Memorial Day with Community and Service

May 27, 2024 by Andi Schwartz

The Lewis & Clark Young Marines concluded their Memorial Day weekend by participating in the Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) Ceremony at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to honor our heroes, featuring inspiring speeches from notable figures such as National Parks Service Superintendent Tracy Fortmann, Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, University of Portland’s Professor of Military Science, ARMY ROTC Lieutenant Colonel John P. Toll, and Combat Veteran and Purple Heart recipient SSG (Ret.) John Kaiser, US ARMY. The event concluded with a Unit formation where YM/GySgt Rider, C. was awarded the CMAC Certificate of Appreciation for his dedicated volunteer service in the Armed Forces of the United States. Oorah!

Lewis & Clark Young Marines Honor Fallen Heroes at Willamette National Cemetery

May 26, 2024 by Andi Schwartz

On Friday, May 24th, the Lewis & Clark Young Marines, in collaboration with the Cascade Pacific Council, gathered at Willamette National Cemetery to honor our nation’s fallen heroes. The solemn ceremony involved laying flags at the graves of those who served, a poignant reminder of their sacrifice. This heartfelt tribute is a part of our commitment to remember and honor the loved ones we have lost in service to our great Nation. As we approach the holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the bravery and dedication of these heroes. Let’s ensure their legacy lives on through our remembrance.

Flag Planting: Willamette National Cemetery

May 26, 2023 by Andi Schwartz

Last night Lewis & Clark Young Marines had the privilege to honor Veterans at Willamette National Cemetery. First there was a ceremony, and then we were released with flags to plant. We stated the Veteran’s name, thanked them for their service and planted a flag at the base of their gravestone.

We hope you have a safe Memorial day weekend.
