Lewis & Clark Young Marines Explore Historic WWII PT Boats on Swan Island
On a bright Saturday, the Lewis & Clark Young Marines had an unforgettable experience touring the historic PT Boat 658 and LCI 713 on Swan Island, thanks to the dedicated volunteers at the PT 658 organization. These young adventurers learned fascinating facts about the PT Boat 658, the fastest wooden boat of its time and one of the most heavily armed for its size during WWII. PT boats played a critical role in daring missions, often engaging in close combat situations that larger warships couldn’t undertake. While waiting for the parade to start, we had the pleasure of meeting and playing games with the Tualatin Valley Young Marines, our neighboring unit. It was a fantastic opportunity to bond and have fun together. Oorah!
